Overview

Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC Group), established on June 6, 1997, and headquartered in Guangzhou Panyu Automotive City, is a state-controlled listed enterprise (A+H shares) regulated by the Guangzhou SASAC. The group’s business spans seven major sectors, including complete vehicle R&D and manufacturing, parts, trade services, and financial investment, possessing a full industrial chain layout that ranges from vehicle R&D and manufacturing to sales services and mobility ecosystems. In 2024, GAC Group ranked 181st in the Fortune Global 500. The current Party Secretary and Chairman is Feng Xingya, and the General Manager is He Xianqing.

Development History

Joint Venture Foundation Period (1997–2009)
GAC’s development began with joint ventures with international giants such as Honda and Toyota. During this period, joint venture enterprises like GAC Honda and GAC Toyota were established, allowing the group to accumulate advanced manufacturing and quality management experience.
Independent Brand Startup Period (2010–2019)
In December 2010, GAC launched its first independently branded passenger car, "Trumpchi," marking the group’s formal entry into the independent vehicle manufacturing era. In 2017, GAC Aion was officially established, becoming the main force in GAC’s new energy vehicle (NEV) strategy.
Comprehensive Transformation Period (2020–Present)
Facing profound changes in the automotive industry, GAC is accelerating its electrification and intelligence transformation. In 2022, it launched China’s first pure electric supercar, the Hyper SSR, and adopted a new brand identity. In 2024, the headquarters relocated to Panyu Automotive City to deepen R&D and production capabilities. In February 2025, a management transition was completed, with Feng Xingya succeeding the retiring Zeng Qinghong as Chairman, and GAC initiated the "Panyu Action" systematic reform. In 2025, GAC jointly created the high-end smart electric vehicle brand "Qijing" with Huawei, with the first model, the GT7, planned for launch in June 2026.

GAC has built a diversified brand matrix featuring the collaborative development of independent and joint venture brands.

Market Performance

In 2025, GAC Group achieved a total operating revenue of approximately 96.542 billion RMB, with group-wide vehicle sales of 1.7215 million units and terminal sales of 1.8135 million units. Among these, sales of energy-saving and new energy vehicles reached 888,200 units, accounting for 51.60% of the total—exceeding 50% for the first time. In 2025, independent brand overseas terminal sales increased by about 48% year-on-year. Business expanded to 87 countries and regions, with a cumulative total of 630 outlets established. Cumulative self-developed R&D investment exceeded 62 billion RMB for the year, and patent applications surpassed 24,900. However, affected by declining joint venture brand sales and intensified market competition, net profit attributable to the parent company turned from profit to loss in 2025, entering a period of deep adjustment pain.
Entering 2026, GAC’s operating situation improved significantly. First-quarter combined sales were nearly 380,000 units, up 2.38% year-on-year, with independent brand sales reaching 166,200 units, an increase of over 42% year-on-year. Overseas independent brand sales exceeded 42,000 units, representing a year-on-year increase of up to 86%. First-quarter consolidated total operating revenue reached 20.229 billion RMB, and net profit attributable to the parent company improved by 10.29% year-on-year.

Core Technologies

GAC adheres to long-term R&D investment, with cumulative investment exceeding 62 billion RMB by the end of 2025. At the 2026 GAC Tech Day, the group concentratedly released five core technology achievements: Xingyuan Power, Starship Body, Galaxy Smart Cockpit, Xingling Architecture 4.0, and Chip Ecosystem.
Electrification: GAC launched the Xingyuan Power technology brand, covering all scenarios of range extension, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid systems. The Xingyuan plug-in hybrid’s 1.5T hybrid engine saw its peak thermal efficiency increase by nearly 3%. Xingyuan Super Dual-Engine pioneered the use of 5.4kWh high-rate safe batteries. All-solid-state batteries are expected to achieve small-batch vehicle installation in 2026.
Intelligence: GAC released the "Xingling Smart Mobility" intelligent technology brand, achieving full coverage of intelligent driving from L2 to L4 in multiple scenarios. It became one of the first car companies to obtain a 120 km/h L3 autonomous driving road test license. Xingling Architecture 4.0 drives the ecosystem evolution of intelligent driving and cockpit experience with AI. Regarding the Chip Ecosystem, GAC partnered with 105 partners to launch China’s first smart new energy vehicle with 100% domestic chip design—the Hyper GT Climbing Edition, equipped with 1,004 domestic chips throughout the vehicle.
Emerging Fields: GAC’s flying car brand, Gaoyu, has built a full-scenario product matrix covering short-distance multi-rotor and intercity compound-wing models. The multi-rotor flying car, AirCab, received nearly 2,000 order intentions and is expected to start mass production and delivery by year-end. Additionally, intelligent robot company Huilun Tech has successfully developed four generations of embodied intelligence humanoid robot products.

Outlook

GAC takes the "Panyu Action" as a lever for systematic reform, focusing on the collaborative development of independent brands and planning for independent model sales share to exceed 60% in 2027. In 2026, the group will proceed firmly around "Tech GAC," promoting the renewal of its four major independent brands: Trumpchi, Aion, Hyper, and Qijing. On the overseas front, GAC challenges an export target of 250,000 units in 2026, striving to achieve 1 million annual overseas sales by 2030, covering over 120 countries. In emerging fields, the layout of flying cars and intelligent robots explores "Sky-Ground Integration" mobility ecosystems.
Facing the future, GAC will continue to increase R&D investment, with electrification, intelligence, and internationalization as its three core drivers. Accelerating its transformation into a "Technology Enterprise," GAC strives to become a world-class technology mobility enterprise.
